La Bricoleuse, a career-spanning first monograph by Swiss-Canadian, Los Angeles-based artist Francesca Gabbiani, is coming soon to Hat & Beard Press. 

Gabbiani’s works on paper depict overlooked landscapes across natural and urban habitats, brought to life using intricately cut paper densely layered over mixed-media washes and airbrushed gradients. The result is abundant with as much texture as meaning, revealing a fundamental understanding of humanity’s subordinate standing to the omnipresence of Mother Nature, and a reverence for the reciprocal cycles of life— withering and blossoming, death and rebirth—through an Ecofeminist lens. 

The new book will include an introduction by the artist, as well as essays by The New Yorker staff writer and poet Dana Goodyear, and curator Catherine Taft, Deputy Director of The Brick, Los Angeles.
