Produced to accompany an exhibition by Sabrina Che of a new body of work to be shown in Los Angeles at Great Art Space in Beverly Hills from October  7, 2023 to November 4, 2023,  Gilded Consciousness is a visual exploration of the the individuality of rocks and the nature of consciousness through the artist's world of photography, sculpture, and textiles.

Similar to humans, rocks are shaped by our environment, slow to change, and individually unique.

In her work, silk embroidered photographs suggest their own sense of place. Solid wood sculptures create cradles for single large stones—offering altars to the human spirit. Tapestries lined with 24k gold leaf and hand-stitched paper patches hint at the narratives we build around one another. Altogether, they signal layers of consciousness, prodding at the ways in which we reveal ourselves, while also drawing lines outside of the physical realm. Each piece is an interpretation and reflection, ultimately providing the beholder a personal meditative viewing moment.

With text by Jennifer Anderson, Mandy Kahn, Cynthia Carlson, and Vivian Tu in which they each frame the idea of rocks and divinity in their own distinct style.
