From the personal writings of Emmy Award-nominated actor Richard Cabral comes El Corte, a collection of some of his most moving works. Through poetry, as well as short vignettes, Cabral reckons with his troubled upbringing and explores his deepening connection with Mexico—the motherland of his ancestors. El Corte is a raw and unflinching examination of a system built to produce violent young men, from the pen of someone who survived it. Within these pages are dispatches from a community long overlooked, as told by one of its brightest and most resilient stars. Named for the author’s own battles with the legal system, El Corte will enlighten and empower the reader to move through the challenges of life and come out on the other side, transformed.
